On June 30, 2016, Toyota Motor R & D Center TMEC drive development department, Watanabe Hidehito Minister and Toyota Motor TMEC drive development department system design room Zhang Chengjun was invited to School of Automotive Engineering made an academic report entitled "S-CVT Super Intelligent Continuously Variable Transmission". The report presided by Cai Yingfeng, the vice dean of Automotive Engineering Research Institute, with the automotive College Jiang Haobin Dean and College teachers and students attending the meeting.

Mr. Watanabe firstly introduced the main business of Changshu Toyota R & D center, the awareness of Chinese market and Toyota initiatives to the teachers and students, and then introduced under China's automobile unique traffic environment, the advantages of CVT low fuel consumption technology and riding comfort. Mr. Watanabe proposed a new CVT "8-speed S-CVT", combined with specific data and cases, to introduce the new Toyota CVT can not only satisfied the pursuit of ultimate fuel economy, but also enjoyment of the passion of driving pleasure. Finally, Watanabe and Mr. Zhang Chengjun, Mr. Watanabe and the attended teachers and students had an enthusiastic interaction.

Mr. Watanabe graduated from Toyohashi University of Science and Technology with a bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering. After graduation, he has been working in Toyota Motor Corporation. He has worked in the Drive Development Department, European Technology Center, and Hybrid Power Development Department. In 2011, he was assigned to Toyota R & (China) Co., Ltd., to take full charge of the management of driving development department.
