Towards the laba festival, Volunteers from School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering conducted overseas students from Pakistan, Jamaica into the local community——Jinshanshuicheng, together with the community residents make and taste the "Laba" porridge, feelings of the Chinese traditional culture.
The team led more than a dozen international students from different countries and started social practice at 8:30 a.m. First, the aunt of the community cooked laba porridge, and explained the raw materials and production process of laba porridge to the international students. Some foreign students also experienced the production process with curiosity. Then the volunteers filled bowls of laba rice porridge freshly baked to overseas students, they one after another gave thumbs-up. A warm-hearted old man also enthusiastically tells the story of the origin of the laba festival and laba porridge to the foreign friends. Finally, the grandparents of the community with the students shared laba porridge, singing and laughing over the meal, bringing the whole activity to a climax.
Through this activity, foreign students have not only experienced the authentical traditional food, and also have a further understanding of our traditional culture.
