On October 11, 2024, the 17th Automotive Lightweighting Conference, jointly hosted by the China Society of Automotive Engineers, Jiangsu Science and Technology Association, the Automotive Lightweighting Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, and the Yangzhou Municipal People's Government, successfully concluded at the Yangzhou International Exhibition Center. The project titled "Rolled Variable-Thickness Components and High-Safety Design Technology and Industrial Software for Automotive Lightweighting," submitted by the team of Associate Professor Duan Libin from our college, won the First Prize at the 5th Automotive Lightweighting Application Technology Innovation Achievement Competition.
The award-winning project addresses three major challenges: rapid modeling of variable-thickness components, lightweight and high-safety vehicle body design, and domestic industrial software. It has developed intelligent design optimization technology and industrial software for lightweight and high-safety vehicle bodies based on rolled variable-thickness components. Professor Duan's team has been dedicated to research and application in lightweight and safety technologies for new energy vehicles for a long time. They have conducted systematic innovations in innovative structural design for new energy vehicles, intelligent design optimization software for high-performance vehicle bodies, and advanced joining technologies. By leveraging the advantages of both universities and enterprises, they have promoted the deep integration of "industry-academia-research-application."
