To build a platform for academic exchange and foster a proactive research atmosphere, the School of Automotive Engineering held an experience-sharing session on research writing, themed “Refined Scholarship, Illuminated Research Journeys,” in Room 311 of the Automotive Building on June 20, 2025. Chaired by Chen Jie, the session invited Wang Yuhang, a master’s student majoring in Transportation Engineering, as the keynote speaker. Drawing on his own research practice, Wang delivered practical, content-rich guidance on academic writing and competition preparation to more than 100 faculty members and students.

During the session, Wang Yuhang drew on his own research experience as a starting point and systematically delineated three stages of the research process. He shared extensive insights on effective learning strategies and how to write high-quality manuscripts, and highlighted the personal benefits he gained from participating in mathematical modeling competitions. He stressed that topic selection should be grounded in the supervisor’s research agenda while aligning with current academic frontiers. He recommended defining the research scope through close reading of review articles and demonstrated, on site, the LetPub tool for querying journal rankings/partitions. In the implementation stage, he provided a detailed breakdown of practical search techniques across Chinese and international literature databases, such as CNKI and Web of Science, and proposed a pragmatic approach of “starting from master’s and doctoral theses to overcome bottlenecks in locating and interpreting journal articles.”
