At the invitation of American National Standards Institute (ANSI), from October 23rd to 27th, 2019, Professor Yin Bifeng, vice president of School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering, went to San Antonio, USA to participate in The 84th ISO / TC70 Meeting.

During the meeting, Prof. Yin participated in ISO / TC70 / SC8 branch as the head of Chinese delegation. As the convener and project leader of ISO TC70 / WG7, he reported on the current revision progress and the next stage work plan of the international engine safety standard led by our school, which was on the right track so far. After the conference, a voting of the draft international standard would be taken. All work on revision was expected to be completed next year. The delegation also paid a visit to Southwest Research Institute, where they had discussions with some international researchers and experts on aspects around research and development of engine efficiency, vehicle systems, fuels, lubricants, etc.

Participating in this conference and undertaking the task of researching and developing international standards is a great chance to strengthen and deepen exchange and cooperation between our university and international research institutions, to get in touch with more internationally renowned scholars and experts in this industry, to enhance influence and competitiveness of our university, especially Vehicle Engineering and Power Engine Engineering, amid international communication and academic circles, to help shape the future of international discourse right on developing international standards and to promote the development of Chinese automobile and engine industry to the world-class level.
